Following previous annual tournaments at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena, Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge and West Ham’s Upton Park, the 2010 Events Industry Football Day comes to Yorkshire for the first time. The great and the good of the exhibition, conference and events industry, which is worth approximately £24bn to the UK economy, will take part in an all-day football tournament, rub shoulders with ex-professional footballers and enjoy an evening gala dinner with networking opportunities. The UK’s biggest venues will be represented by the likes of Birmingham’s NEC, organiser of Confex and Event UK UBM will have a team out, and the Toon Army of NewcastleGateshead will fly the destination flag. Our events professionals will be steered along by ex-pros, including Graham Roberts, Steve Sedgley, and Mickey Hazard.* For non-playing supporters and guests, Mash Media has also organised, in conjunction with Sonas Spa, a pampering programme, including facials and massages, in one of Leeds United FC’s corporate boxes. “The Mash Media Football Day is always a key date in the events industry diary and we are looking forward to hosting it at one of the most historic UK football stadiums this year,” says company sales director Paul Davies. “The venue is growing on the event map, especially with the announcement of its new £3m exhibition and conference centre. “We look forward to testing out the events space and hospitality facilities at Elland Road, and are confident there will be another memorable day full of high-spirited football and top-notch evening networking. “We also pass on our congratulations to Simon Grayson and his team for achieving promotion back into the Championship after a closely fought season in League One. We hope our exhibition and events colleagues can replicate the skills and endeavour shown by the Leeds players!” adds Davies. Mash Media is the leading publisher for the events industry. Its portfolio of UK and international titles and websites serve the global exhibition, conference and meetings industries. * More teams and celebrity players to be announced.
