“Trade fairs provide an excellent platform”

The Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) is planning an expert forum Trade Shows as Innovation Hubs this Global Exhibitions Day.

Trade fairs provide an excellent platform to bring together scientific innovations and industrial companies. Therefore AUMA will organise the expert forum Trade Shows as Innovation Hubs – Science to Business within the frame of Global Exhibitions Day on 7 June.

The atrium of the Technical University Berlin will be the stage where experts and participants discuss how Germany as an exhibition and innovation location can be further developed. The event is aimed at technology transfer centres, exhibition organisers, industry associations and university representatives.

Topics will include relations between exhibitions and science, and exhibitions as a power tool for science marketing.

AUMA is cooperating with the Trade Fair Working Group Sciences, which includes trade fair representatives of universities, scientific institutions and ministries of the German Federal States. They organise, among other things, joint stands at national and international technology-oriented exhibitions for the aforementioned institutions and for start-ups.

AUMA and the Trade Fair Working Group Science have been working together for years, join forces through a cooperation agreement in 2016.

“Global Exhibitions Day has the purpose to highlight the industry’s benefits for the economy and the fun being had”

Fondazione Fiera Milano has a business unit called Accademia Fiera Milano, which is one of the main training centers in Europe for the exhibition, congress and event business. In particular, it has two courses for young people who aim to be part of our industry.

The Global Exhibitions Day has the purpose to highlight the exhibition industry’s benefits for the economy and the fun of being part of this world. Therefore, when we heard about this wonderful initiative, we immediately decided to support it.

First of all, we asked our students to write a short text about their passion for exhibitions. Then we took pictures of each of them with the GED sign in Accademia Fiera Milano’s building. Finally, until 7 June, we are sharing pictures and texts twice per week on our social media.

Moreover, each time our classes visit Fiera Milano and Mico, we share their pictures with the GED hashtag.

Since the beginning, we have been very enthusiastic about Global Exhibitions Day because it has given us the opportunity to show that there are many young talents who are deeply in love with trade fairs.

They are eager to be part of our world because of its international atmosphere, importance for the economy and face-to-face business opportunities.

“Everybody is invited to participate in the flash mob itself”

RUEF is planning several activities to promote and celebrate GED17.

We will stage ExpoMotoRace ‘Exhibition Russia’, visiting cities such as Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Pskov, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Rostov and Minsk.

We will also be meeting with the leadership of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Russia on the day itself.

There will be a press conference held on Russian television featuring RUEF President Sergey Alexeev and the leaders of various exhibition companies and RUEF members.

And it’s a great opportunity for showmanship of a different kind. We will organise a flashmob featuring RUEF members on 7 June, simultaneously releasing balloons with the GED17 logo. Videos of the flash mob will be downloaded on these companies’ websites and shared on social media. Everybody is invited to participate in the flash mob itself!

We will also promote a photo and video contest among RUEF members devoted to GED17.

Alongside these events RUEF members will hold meetings with corresponding regional authorities, aiming to emphasise the role exhibitions play for economic development and to discuss challenges from the perspective of the exhibition industry.
