Up in the clouds

Founded in 1999 with just two employees, cloud-based enterprise event management platform, Cvent, has grown rapidly over the years and now employs more than 1,450 people worldwide.
With offices in the US, London, Frankfurt, India and Australia, Cvent has over 12.6k customers and more than 137k active global users. This year alone has seen the firm partner with the likes of ISES, EVCOM, ABPCO, TechFest, Confex, and ITM.
“It’s been a great year for Cvent – there have been significant acquisitions, and there was also an announcement to hire an additional 500 employees worldwide to meet the increasing demand for technology solutions,” David Chalmers, marketing director, Europe at Cvent tells EN.
“In 2015 we want to grow the team here in London (as part of our target to hire 500 new employees worldwide) and have some exciting new product releases planned which will extend our offerings across the platform.”
The firm offers a portfolio of solutions covering event management, planning and budgeting, online registration, venue sourcing (Cvent Supplier Network), event marketing, web surveys, strategic meetings management, mobile apps (CrowdCompass) and ticketing and audience management solutions for consumer events (CrowdTorch).
One of the things Cvent is most proud of this year, he tells us, is the number of awards won for being the best place to work and also a number of Cvent’s teams have been recognised in areas such as Women in Technology for Financial Leadership, Legal Counsel. Another highlight of the year saw Reggie Aggarwal, founder and CEO of Cvent voted as one of the industry’s 25 most influential people in the Meetings Industry List.
“For me it was in early November, when our CEO Reggie presented the keynote session at Event Tech Live where he told the story of Cvent and gave his inspirational view on the future of the industry and how technology will transform things.”
According to Chalmers, the Cvent event management platform enables its customers to increase productivity by up to 27 per cent, increase attendance at their events by 20 per cent, save up to 15 per cent in venue costs and increase audience engagement with its mobile app and social media solutions.
“Many exciting new products were released in 2014, including OnArrival, our onsite delegate management solution,” he adds.
The new free mobile app, designed for Cvent customers streamlines the onsite event check in process for events or meetings.
OnArrival integrates with Cvent’s event management platform, providing customers with real-time current registration lists onsite in the app and the ability to run real-time attendance reports in Cvent.
Cvent also teamed up with marketing software company Marketo on a joint platform. LaunchPoint combines Cvent’s event management platform with Marketo’s, offering event attendee information to deliver targeted engagement to customers and interested parties.
