Senior Marketing Executive on the Decorex International event


The Senior Marketing Executive will be responsible for implementing the brand marketing and communication strategies for Decorex International, a high-end trade interior design show. They will write the marketing plan, use both online and offline systems and communications to achieve the marketing objectives on time and within budget plus analyse results, report back on effectiveness and suggest improvements to the campaign. This position requires strong copy writing skills and data analytics, excellent communication skills and a minimum of two years marketing experience.



  • Produce and implement the exhibition marketing plan with the support of the Marketing Manager, identifying event objectives and KPI’s ensuring buy-in from the Decorex International Brand Director
  • Deliver marketing communications within the event portfolio including:
    • Developing campaign messaging with support from the Marketing Manager
    • Copywriting for online and print with a focus on detail including spelling, accuracy and legibility
    • Managing design process for sales collateral, and visitor promotion (including adverts, direct mail, HTMLs, exhibitor tickets, websites etc) from brief to signoff ensuring timely signoff from relevant stakeholders
    • Develop and manage direct mail campaigns
    • Develop and manage email campaign with emphasis on testing to optimise future campaigns
    • Identification of strategic industry partners to increase marketing reach, developing relationships with trade associations and industry organisations
    • Work with PR team to produce timely releases and ensure PR activity is carried out on time and in line with marketing objectives and progress is regularly feedback to the team
    • External advertising – recommendations for advertising spend, placing ads and monitoring effectiveness
    • Online and digital marketing including social media- using analytics from Omniture, Glean.In, Hootsuite, Adestra and any other relevant programmes to ensure maximum effectiveness of web activity
    • Social media campaign planning, execution, monitoring and reporting
    • Database development and list sourcing – both increasing the quantity and improving the data quality
    • Monitor competitor activity and all relevant media to keep up-to-date with the latest industry news, whilst having a strong understanding of competitors’ position in relation to all events
    • New and innovative marketing solutions and innovations
    • Any ad-hoc projects which arise
    • Post event analysis and intelligence



  • At least two years experience in an events marketing role or similar
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Proactive approach to completing tasks, keeping on top of suppliers and internal staff & management to ensure deadlines are met. Report back regularly on the status of a task/project
  • A mature attitude. Good at problem solving, comes up with solutions rather than problems
  • Self starter, who can drive and execute projects, foster innovation, focus on delivery, collaborate with others, solve problems creatively, accurately and effectively and demonstrate high levels of commitment and integrity
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to negotiate with suppliers, and maintain professional internal and external relationships
  • Ability to be highly organised and able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proactively able to establish and maintain effective working team relationships within own team and with all other departments
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications
  • Knowledge of running PPC campaigns and monitoring results using Google Analytics
  • Takes responsibility for staying up to date on marketing best practice, the interior and built environment industry and the wider UBM business
