The AEO is considering the UK launch of an exhibitions training programme in collaboration with the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), a US-based trade association. The AEO has been in talks with IAEE president Steven Hacker (pictured) about the possibility of brining the IAEE CIM training programme to the UK. The training and modules will need to be adjusted to fit the UK market but the principle will remain unchanged.Along with Hacker, AEO representatives also met with the MD of international exhibition association UFI, Paul Woodward; executive director of SISO (Society of Independent Show Organisers), Lewis Shomer, and Jo-Anne Kelleway, a member of the executive committee of Australia’s EEAA (Exhibition & Event Association).Hacker also offered the AEO a chance to present its FaceTime initiative at the next IAEE board meeting.AEO chairman and MD of Tarsus Group, Douglas Emslie, said: “A key strategic aim for 2010, as set out by the AEO Board, is to develop products, services and partnerships for the increasing number of members who organise international shows.”To this end the AEO has launched an international dinner club, a half-day seminar on running shows in Hong Kong and China, and reduced-rate attendance to the annual Global Event Summit for members.
