*Exhibition News magazine exclusive published in EN's February edition*New UK exhibition facility Bluewater Events Venue has confirmed its first two shows pending completion later this year. Its first event is the Spirit of Christmas, which will occupy both the upper (3,000sqm) and lower (2,000sqm) halls and is aimed at the high-end homewares and gifts markets. The second launch, the Fine Festive Fair, will be an experiential-based speciality show with a Dickensian theme targeting Christmas shoppers. It will be staged in the lower hall in December simultaneously with a Christmas extravaganza upstairs from 9 December to 8 January.Bluewater director Rebecca Cardozo said the first events are beign organised by launch partner Clarion Events and will focus on experiential-based features targeted at the site’s existing retail traffic. She claimed stand bookings for the Sprit of Christmas, which will run in addition to Clarion’s existing November event at Olympia in London, are already at 50 per cent. Clarion has committed to nine events at Bluewater, but Cardozo hoped to at least double that figure in the first year with other exhibition partners. Bluewater will also be looking to attract broader live events such as music concerts and comedy acts.“We are in discussions with other top organisers to launch new shows or bring existing shows and add experiential elements, which we hope to confirm over the next few months,” Cardozo told EN.  “We’re excited to be working on a whole new breed of exhibition.”She also confirmed building is on schedule with work on the venue’s “green” roof set to start in Spring.
