A niche tradeshow for the home automation and entertainment sector has reserved 2011 dates at the City of Manchester Stadium after claiming a successful first event. The inaugural Essential Install Live show took place on 11-12 October and was organised by the sister magazine’s publisher, Xpert Publishing. Its target audience was professional home electronics and entertainment system installers and featured product manufacturers, distributors and suppliers. The shell-scheme only exhibition featured 38 exhibitors across 700sqm and attracted over 400 installers. The programme also included an industry gala dinner, the first Essential Install magazine Trade Awards ceremony and featured several product launches. Co-director, Daniel Sait, said it was committed to growing footfall traffic in 2011 and widening visitors to include developers, architects and interior designers. It is also planning more training and demonstration facilities next year. While acknowledging the show was small, the organiser is ambitious to grow the show to service the expanding home automation market, Sait said. The Essential Install Live 2011 exhibition will take place on 10-11 October. SIM2 and Anthem AV MD Alan Roser, who exhibited at the show, claimed its northern location and specialist focus would help it grow into a “great event”. Control4 VP of sales and marketing, Brian Chapman, said it picked up five new dealers and 30 sales leads from the two-day event. Earlier this year, Manchester City Football Club signed a formal agreement with Manchester City Council and the New East Manchester to transform the area around the stadium.
