The Counter-Terror Expo has completely sold out its space for next year, less than a week after the 2010 show closed. The show had planned to move from the Olympia National Hall to the larger Grand Hall for next year, but organisers are now considering using the National Hall as well.“A lot of exhibitors didn’t really bring all their equipment this year, and we hope that the extra space next year will allow that,” says event director and MD of show organiser Niche Events, Peter Jones. The 2010 show, which ran from 14 to 15 April, also saw several arrests made outside the venue, as peaceful protestors gathered outside Olympia and allegedly painted graffiti on the sidewalk.“There have been protestors at this show since its inception,” says Jones. “When they found out that Clarion (organiser of the Defence Security Equipment International exhibition) had bought Niche Events, they had a problem with that.”Clarion Events already has several defence technology shows in its portfolio. Now part of Clarion Group, Niche Events will continue to run the Counter Terror Expo until 2012, after which Clarion will wholly take over the event.“The protestors called it the Counter-Counter Terror Expo,” he adds.
