Former Emap chief executive Sir David Arculus has been appointed chairman of independent bank Aldermore.Arculus is also ex-chairman of the O2 and Earls Court and Olympia, and current chairman of Excel London and Clarion Events. He joined Emap in 1972 and transformed it from a small newspaper publisher to an international media group and event organiser. He became group managing director of Emap in 1989 and left the company in 1997.Aldermore is a new bank focusing on loans to small businesses.Earlier this year, Emap sold its Professional Beauty portfolio to the show’s founder Mark Moloney.
