DIVERSIFIED FINDS HOME FOR DMG'S AUSTRALIAN BUSINESS

Diversified Exhibitions Australia, a division of Diversified Business Communications, has picked up most of DMG World Media’s Australian assets.The acquisition, brokered by Mayfield Media, adds eleven new shows to its portfolio including Designex, FoodPro and Building Services and Maintenance Expo.Diversified Exhibitions Australia’s MD, Matthew Pearce, says DMG’s Australian business will particularly enhance Diversified’s position in the design, construction and food sectors. “Designex is Australia’s pre-eminent design show and a perfect complement to DesignBuild, which focuses more on building and construction. Our plan is to more effectively service these two distinct markets.Pearce added that Designex and DesignBuild will be refined to ensure they do not compete with each other. FoodTech, which Diversified launched this year, will be merged into FoodPro for 2011.DMG, which announced it wanted to offload its Australasian business earlier this year, retains ownership of the interactive marketing event Ad-tech.Diversified launched three new shows this year, the Good Food and Wine Show in Adelaide, Fine Food New Zealand and Hotel Hospitality and Design, and acquired the biennial Australasian Oil and Gas Expo and Irresistible Gluten Free Food Shows. The company also expanded into Hong Kong with the Hong Kong Restaurant and Bar Show, and Retail Asia.A buyer for DMG's New Zealand business is still being sought.
