Eastbourne Pier reveals Ocean Suite as part of £250k development

Owners of Eastbourne Pier, Six Piers, are hoping a new £250,000 development will turn the historic attraction into one of the “most spectacular private hire venues on the south coast”.  The Pier’s new Ocean Suite is booked to host a VIP area for the four days of Airbourne, 12-15 August 2010, the world’s largest seafront airshow.  Refurbishment work is expected to be complete on the Ocean Suite, which can hold up to 250 guests, by the end of May. GM of Eastbourne Pier, Christos Stylianou says the project will provide, “an unrivalled conference and meeting venue, which we expect to attract companies from far and wide. It will also provide a unique venue for local people to celebrate weddings, christenings and other significant occasions in style”. A late licence has been granted for the suite and Red Anywhere will manage the onsite catering. Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure, Cllr Neil Stanley tells conference-news: “The investment from Six Piers in the new Ocean Suite on Eastbourne Pier is a significant addition to the town, extending the facilities and attractions already available on our iconic seafront landmark.  “One of the country’s few remaining Victorian Piers and with its status upgraded last year to Grade II, Eastbourne Pier is unique and the Ocean Suite presents a fantastic new dimension for the resort’s conference and business offer with 360-degree views of the sea giving event organisers an extra special venue.,“ he adds. Eastbourne was recently named as the UK’s Most Holiday-Friendly Town by Virgin Money Travel Insurance, while GMTV confirmed last week that Eastbourne is officially the country’s sunniest place.
