Organiser Upper Street Events has announced the launch of Perform 2011, an educational exhibition to open next March. It will run alongside the established dance exhibition Move It, but will provide singing and acting workshops and seminars aimed at teaching visitors how to develop and sustain a career in performing arts.“The audience feedback from last year’s Move It inspired this launch,” event director Shirry Liram told EN. “Visitors told us they would like to delve into singing and acting areas, as well as the dancing. We consulted with performing arts colleges and industry associations and felt like this was now the right time to launch something like Perform.”Liram also revealed some of the colleges and associations that will attend, with some providing teachers and professionals to host workshops. The full list will be available in December, but EN was told that the likes of London School of Musical Theatre and casting agency Spotlight have signed on.“These days, to succeed in the performing arts, you need the ‘triple threat’,” added Liram. “That means a proficiency in singing, acting and dancing. We are happy to provide an event that will now appeal to all three of those needs.”Move It and Perform will run from 11 to 13 March 2011 at Olympia, London.
