Two fashion exhibitions, Stitch and the inaugural Pure Spirit are to co-locate at London’s Earls Court Exhibition Centre in February 2011. Young fashion trade show Pure Spirit is a spin off from womenswear, footwear and accessories buying event, Pure London. Its organiser, Emap Connect, recently announced it was to invest £1m into Pure Spirit, hoping to increase its brand awareness and boost visitor numbers. Pure London will take place on the same dates as the co-located shows, however, is held biannually at Olympia London. This year’s edition reported a 24 per cent increase in visitor numbers (ABC-audited) and a 27 per cent increase in international buyers. Managing director of Stitch, Brian Duffy, told fashion news site FashionUnited both organisers have a common goal to put London on the map as a fashion city for menswear. “It is better to compete with foreign cities like Paris and Milan than amongst each other.”Menswear and accessories event Stitch, which launched in February 2010, has held three editions around London until now. “We’re very excited to have Stitch come on board for February,” says event director of Pure Spirit, Samantha Bleasby. “The strategic decision behind launching Pure Spirit alongside Pure London was to create the biggest buying event the UK as seen in decades.“Stitch just further strengthens this offer for buyers who will now have over 1,200 brands to source from,” she adds. Stitch and Pure Spirit will be held in Earls Court One between 13 and 15 February 2011.
