Exhibition organiser Nationwide Media Group has gone into liquidation, Exhibition News has learned.A creditors’ meeting took place on Friday at the offices of liquidator Fa Simms, in Bristol. The company’s exhibition portfolio includes Business North West, Business Yorkshire, and Business Midlands.Around £270,000 in deposits has already been paid by exhibitors across Nationwide’s exhibition portfolio.“All endeavours are being made by the agent to sell the goodwill of the company, which will hopefully assist the customers who have put deposits,” said Nationwide MD Scott Hider. “A potential purchaser will hopefully continue to run these successful and popular events and honour those deposits.” According to Hider, 12 staff members will be made redundant. The company's 'good will' includes the events, websites and leftover data. One of the most immediate concerns is Nationwide’s annual Business North West exhibition, which is scheduled to run from 27-28 October at Manchester Central. Manchester Central has not yet commented on the situation.Business North West is sponsored by Google, Manchester City Council, and the East Lancashire, St Helens and Greater Manchester Chambers of Commerce, among others.Requests for comment from Fa Simms had not been answered at time of publication.Nationwide announced the launch of Business West earlier this year. *Editors note: The Nationwide business was acquired by Easyfairs in September 2010.
