Trade association Eventia has become the latest ‘ambassador’ to receive the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre’s (SECC) Champions award.Eventia chair Mark Saxby picked up the award at the association’s recent summer conference in Glasgow “in recognition of the trade body’s key role in highlighting Scotland as a destination for international events”.“Eventia has been instrumental in enabling us to promote Scotland as the destination of choice for business visitors and has given us a fantastic opportunity to engage with valuable events industry professionals,” says the director of Sales for the SECC, Ben Goedegebuure.“The award is in recognition of all the business that Eventia members and their predecessors have put into the venue over the years, whether agency buyers or corporate buyers direct,” he adds. Saxby, said: “It is a pleasure to be part of the success of the SECC and I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of all of our members.”

More than 8,000 visitors arrived at ExCeL London on 4-6 February for the fourth edition of 100% Optical. The show featured more than 175,000 frames, catwalk performances and a comprehensive education programme.
