Excel London has selected Air France KLM Group subsidiary, CityJet, as its preferred and primary travel partner. The arrangement will see CityJet’s groups offer and charter products automatically highlighted in all Excel marketing material, including its European Route Network from nearby London City Airport. The airline’s worldwide network connections, as well as Air France KLM’s Global Meetings discounted fares, will also be profiled. In a statement, Excel London managing director, David Pegler, flagged the Air France KLM global network as a key factor behind the deal and pointed out “over three quarters of the events hosted by the venue had an international element”.CityJet will sit alongside Excel’s existing travel partners Virgin, Lufthansa and Thames Clippers, and it also confirmed it is in talk with British Airways. “The difference with CityJet is that it is the main airport provider for City Airport,” corporate communications manager, Gemma Parkhouse, told Exhibition News. “It is also working very closely with Excel and the airport to create a welcome arrival experience for delegates coming to Excel,” she says. CityJet head of sales and marketing, Laurent Petitmangin, saw the partnership as a good way to promote its selection of flights to the meetings and exhibitions community, as the airline operates up to 600 flights a week from London City Airport to 15 destinations including Amsterdam, Paris, Geneva and Dublin.
