Exhibition organiser sees gap in retail technology market

Organiser Legend Exhibitions claims there is huge industry support behind its decision to launch a new retail technology exhibition in 2011.After speaking to the UK retail industry and visiting exhibitors at similar shows throughout Europe and the Far East, the Retail Business Technology Expo is set to take place next March.“The UK exhibition industry has seen the demise of its recent retail technology shows, but we felt the gap in this market still needs to be filled,” general manager of Legend Exhibitions, Nick Field tells EN. “The response we had from our research was overwhelmingly positive.”A steering committee of companies, including representatives from Starbucks, Nandos, Kingfisher and Monsoon Accessorize, have helped shape the timing of the show and will provide Legend with insight into what kind of show the industry requires.“The key word here is community,” adds Field. “We are in constant contact with potential exhibitors and visitors to ensure we deliver a show that will establish itself as a calendar regular. It’s not just the IT manager from companies that now attends these types of shows, it will attract other people who have influence and input into retail technology decisions.”The Retail Business Technology Expo will take place at Earls Court, London on 16 and 17 March 2011.
