Expotel appointed booking agent for Wimbledon 2010

Expotel has booked in £200,000 in tennis-related business in the run up to the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships 2010. Expotel is in its 17th season as hotel booking agent for the championships that take place this year, 21 June-4-July. Offering 24/7 booking services by telephone and online, Expotel had booked 1,580 room nights for clients attending the championships as of 3 June. Exhibitions manager for Expotel, George Tong, tells Exhibition News: “Expotel is proud and privileged that our experience and resources have resulted in our being chosen by Wimbledon for 17th year running.”Tong explains that the Wimbledon remit is mostly hotel bookings for press, officials and visitors, with a large proportion of bookings for entire duration of Wimbledon. “Sixty per cent of bookings this year have been through the website,” says Tong, “and 50 per cent are repeat business.”Millennium and Copthorne Chelsea Football Club, Copthorne Tara and Kingston Lodge have proven particularly popular, with Tong claiming Expotel offers savings of 30-50 per cent on the rack rate.
