Fetish is no longer the London scene

Heralded by its organiser, Green Shed Events, as the UK’s biggest annual fetish exhibition, The Xpo, has been cancelled for the foreseeable future. As part of the London Fetish Weekend, the 2009 two-day event was cancelled with its organiser setting a new date in October 2010 at London Barbican. However, its event director, Cathy Norris, says there was no way the show could make money and that they had exhausted the market. “The show is nine years old but has had its day. “Visitors are able to buy everything they need online and do not need to ‘go underground’ to an exhibition for their needs,” she adds. “This has been an extremely hard decision for us but we feel it is the right thing to do for both exhibitors and visitors. Various factors have combined to make it difficult for exhibitors to commit to The Xpo as far in advance as they normally would.” In 2004 the show, called Skin Two Expo at the time, was taken over by Cathy and Paul Norris and in 2007 changed its name to The Xpo. The Xpo showcased the UK and international names in fetish clubbing couture, BDSM equipment and kinky art.
