Home run for Grand Designs Live Investment in outdoor advertising and interactive content has paid dividends for Media 10’s Grand Designs Live Birmingham, which it claims attracted 40,000 visitors. The company, which invested in a range of outdoor media to raise the profile of the show in and around Birmingham, said the figure represented a 30 per cent increase in visitors over the three-day event. It also introduced new features including the first Grand Village, which housed full-scale, eco dwellings to demonstrate sustainable living. A series of show gardens also featured for the first time in the new Grand Show Gardens and visitors also learned about the art of urban bee keeping in the Live Bee Hive. “We changed our campaign this year to raise our outdoor presence, and also continued to place a lot of emphasis on the visitor experience,” says Media 10’s group marketing director, Rob Nathan adding the company was determined not to cut back on the show during the recession. “We decided we just had to get through this and put on a good show. We’ve invested in the show and it has reaped rewards; our re-bookings have gone through the roof.” More than 500 exhibitors attended the show, which ran 9-11 October at Birmingham NEC.
