Not one skater will touch the surface of the ice rink at the planned Wembley Stadium ICExperience event this Christmas. Scheduled to take place from mid-December until 3 January, sources have told Exhibition News that lack of public interest forced the venue to pull the seasonal event from its calendar. “The project was completed and we were just waiting to flick the switch to create the ice,” says logistical director of the Structure Group, Rob Page. “We were given 41 hours to create the decking for the biggest ice rink in the UK and completed the job in 35, so we are disappointed.” Wembley Stadium refused to comment on the story, saying only that it apologises to everyone who bought tickets in advance. Full refund details are available via its website.
