The Ideal Home Show will partner with the Soldiers’ Charity to raise £100,000 to help soldiers returning from conflict. The exhibition will have a special Troops Day on the 22 March as a tribute to the Armed Forces and will donate 50p of every ticket sold to the Ideal Homes for Heroes Appeal, to help pay for home improvements for returning soldiers."The Show has always been a British institution going back to the First World War. The money raised will help more than 280 soldiers, former soldiers and their families in need of support," says show director, Lee Newton. "We want to help with vital home adaptations, improvements and general housing needs. We are extremely proud to be able to do this."The Troops Day will include a traditional British street party, military band performances, a military field kitchen and other attractions.CEO of the Soldiers’ Charity, Major General Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter, says: "In the last year, we’ve seen a 30 per cent increase in requests for assistance coming from young soldiers and their families, much of which concerns home adaptations."That is why we have set ourselves a target of doubling our income by 2014 and hope this partnership will help us achieve that."
