The 2010 editions of Manufacturing Technology Scotland (MTS) and Manufacturing Technology Ireland (MTI) have been called off due to market pressures.“We were seeking bookings for them right in the midst of the recession, so I decided to postpone both this year,” said Phil Valentine, MD of show organiser European Trade and Exhibition Services (ETES).However, preparation ETES’ Southern Manufacturing and Electronics Exhibition at Farnborough is still going strong. “It’s up in excess of 50 per cent like-for-like on last year,” said Valentine. “It’s being staged at the right time. It’s the first major industrial event in the country in the year. It’s a long established show with a good pedigree and good reputation.”In contrast, this would have been the second time MTS took place at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow, and the fourth edition of MTI.Although an official announcement will not be made for several weeks, Valentine told EN there is a strong possibility that the shows will next take place in Autumn 2011.MTS was due to take place on 10 and 11 November, and MTI on 13 and 14 October at the National Show Centre, Dublin.
