ITE’s national fashion and footwear trade event Moda is set to host its autumn/winter 2011 season event with its largest gathering yet of home-grown and international brands on 20 to 22 February. The event, held at NEC Birmingham, is a sourcing ground for buyers seeking the new trends, labels and products. According to organiser ITE Moda, this year more than 1,400 brands are booked to showcase new designs across the fashion and footwear sectors of Moda Woman, Moda Accessories, Moda Lingerie and Swimwear, Moda Footwear and Moda Menswear. The exhibition, which according to ITE Moda’s commercial director Nick Cook has seen year-on-year growth this season, is now seeing its exhibitor list boosted by an increasing number of more directional brands across all sectors, including a new influx of niche lingerie labels showing in the ‘Collections’ area of Moda Lingerie and Swimwear.New names have also been added to the womenswear and menswear shows, while Moda Footwear has seen major growth in men’s and lifestyle brands, with new arrivals such as Deakins and Original Penguin following up the arrival last season of brands including Levi’s and Tommy Hilfiger.“The fact that established brands are taking part in the show illustrates how important a role exhibitions can play during challenging economic times,” Cook told EN. “Tailoring the show to the needs of more directional brands has been an ongoing process for us, and this season’s line-up is the most diverse so far.”ITE recently reported an increase in overall volume sales of almost 70,000sqm due to acquisitions this year, despite continuing decline in the company’s core of pre-existing shows.Comments, questions or tips?
