A collection of shows across Northern England, including the launch Time of Your Life show at the Yorkshire Event Centre (YEC), have become casualties of the heavy snow conditions. The Time of Your Life event was scheduled from 4-5 December and is managed by JP Events and Exhibitions. According to a statement posted on the show website, the event will now be held at the same venue from 2-3 April 2011. “Due to heavy snow in the north of England and a very poor forecast for the coming weekend, the organisers have taken the decision, regrettably, to postpone the Time of Your Life show,” the statement read. “We apologise for any inconvenience this causes anyone.”The show is aimed at the over-50s market and retirees. Alongside exhibitors, a full-day programme featuring British celebrity and retirement ambassador, Sir Jimmy Saville, as well as yoga, dance, tai chi and fitness classes were scheduled, as well as a demonstration kitchen and indoor bowls. Time of Your Life is one of five shows being launched by JP Events and Exhibitions over the next six months.A YEC spokesperson said its Toy Fair and Christmas sale events this week were going ahead. However, two events at its sister Pavilions of Harrogate venue – the Antiques and Fine Art Fair and a Cashmere Mill – have been cancelled due to the heavy snow. The Footsey 2010 social economy trade fair at Doncaster Racecourse, which was due to commence today, has also been postponed due to heavy snow. According to a statement on the website, the event will now take place before the end of March 2011. At Harrogate International Centre, the Simply Christmas show slated to begin tomorrow will continue as planned. The NEC in Birmingham said it was also unaffected and confirmed the upcoming Clothes Show will run as scheduled. A spokesperson advised anyone concerned about travelling to the event to use public transport.
