Live event and concert venue the LG Arena in Birmingham has completed its £29m revamp with the installation of 20 automated turnstiles. The Arena claims it is the first of its kind to install the technology, which can validate tickets purchased at the venue in real time or accept e-tickets printed by visitors at home."The system has initially coped with thousands of people coming here," says general manager Guy Dunstan. "When we hosted the X Factor concerts, with an audience of 12,800 per night, the turnstiles coped with a peak performance of 215 people per minute."According to Dunstan, the technology will also be able to handle 2D, m-ticket (mobile ticket technologies) and smartcards in the future. "A great customer experience is key for the LG Arena. Turnstiles configured in this way offer simple and safe entry," he adds.
