MCM Expo attracts record 46,500 visitors

The London MCM Expo has claimed an all-time record for attendance at its October 2010 show at Excel London, with 46,500 visitors through the doors. The expo took place 29-31 October and broke the footfall record of 41,000 set at the May 2010 London event. “We are overwhelmed by the turnout for MCM Expo, with nearly 47,000 consumers,” said marketing director Bryan Cooney. “The support from UKIE, London Games Festival, the games press and the games publishers has been bigger than ever. We are already looking forward to May 2011.”A spokesperson flagged the Eagle Comic Awards as one of the highlights of the October event, but said overall growth stemmed from momentum built up by more floor space, more visitor interest and ultimately, more support from studios and gaming-oriented companies. The next MCM Expo takes place from 27-29 May at Excel London. In September, MCM Expo Group announced it would also bring back the Memorabilia Show to London in 2011 as a twice-annual event.
