New centre opens in Bristol

The University of the West of England has officially opened its new exhibition and conference centre. The 9,000 square metre indoor arena has 25 meeting rooms making it one of the largest centres in the South West. The development was made possible after the university acquired a 70-acre site from neighbour Hewlett-Packard last year and converted one of the office buildings. Located half a mile from the M32 motorway in Bristol, the centre has a potential 2.5 million visitors within an hour’s drive time. Ambitions 2009, which provides local school children between the ages of 14 and 18 with information on careers, recruitment and training, is the first major event taking place at the venue. Future customers include the North Bristol NHS Trust and the South-West Grid for Learning.
