The UK Outdoor Industries Association has thrown its weight behind Ocean Media’s upcoming Outdoor Leisure Show launch in Birmingham. The Outdoor Leisure Show will take place during the last three days of the organiser’s Boat and Caravan Show, to be held on 23-28 February 2011 at The NEC. Ocean Media estimated 20,000 visitors could attend the two events, which will be sold as a single entry ticket. “The support by the Outdoor Industries Association confirms the support and demand for an outdoor leisure show specifically targeting those from the Midlands and the north of England; for those who enjoy the great outdoors,” event director, Andy Gibb said. The show will cover a range of outdoor pursuits such as rambling and fell walking, climbing, mountaineering and camping. Adventurer and TV presenter, Monty Halls, will also be guest speaker.Outdoor Industries Association CEO, Louise Ramsay said it was important to encourage new initiatives which helped get more people outdoors, responsibly. “The show will encourage and inspire participation in the outdoors, and will also help people appreciate the health and well-being associated with those experiences,” she said. Gibb told EN in July that The Outdoor Leisure Show would fill the void left by VOS Media’s southbound The Outdoors Show, which is being co-located with Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show (LIBS) at London’s Excel in January 2011.Ocean also confirmed several high-profile outdoor clothing and camping manufacturing businesses will exhibit including Yeomans, Páramo, Alpkit and Keela.
