Parking meters at the AECC

The Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre is to install parking meters, meaning visitors arriving by car will now pay £3, on average, to park at the venue. The plan was rejected by Aberdeen City Council's planning committee in June, but the decision was overturned on appeal. A spokesperson for the AEDD says the venue is pleased with the decision. "We can look forward to implementing the Pay and Display scheme at the venue. This will have a number of benefits, including improved security, potentially fewer cars at the venue - reducing travel tie to and from events - and additional revenue."She says they will keep the charges below those in the rest of Scotland for the foreseeable future. "We believe that for those attending major exhibitions at the venue, £3 per car is a fair."
