PATS 2011 Sandown and Harrogate shows expanded

The Pets and Aquatics Trade Shows (PATS), organised in both Sandown and Harrogate by Impact Exhibitions and Events, are being extended in 2011 to incorporate more floor space. The third annual PATS exhibition at Sandown Park, which takes place from 22-23 March, will now run across the Surrey and Esher Halls, while the Harrogate International Centre show will move into Hall C as well as A, B and the Royal Halls. Although there will be substantially more space, event director Gordon Thomas said it will only increase stand space by 14 per cent. Total space for exhibitors will rise from 87 to 112 at Sandown, and from 100 to 130 at Harrogate. PATS attracted 2,839 people (unaudited) this year.“We are aware of the space to visitor ratio. We had 23 per cent growth in visitors last year and want to see a similar result this year,” he told EN. “It’s more about sustained growth, and growing the exhibitors and the visitors together.“We do ‘cap’ our exhibitors, so no one can take more than 36sqm of stand space. Whichever way you look at it, it means PATS will now be the UK’s largest pet tradeshow.” New features are being introduced including a products demonstration area, as well as a Grooming Point featuring international experts. The organiser said a complimentary series of retail seminars is under development. Both shows will also include the Retailers’ Choice 2011 Products of the Year showcase, and an area for niche, new and limited edition products. The Harrogate International Centre is in the midst of a £13m expansion which will see two new halls and 3,300sqm of event space added to the site.
