Exhibitors at the Boat and Caravan Show saw a rise in sales despite a drop in visitor numbers.Show organiser Ocean Media reported a 20 per cent increase in sales from last year and a 0.6 per cent drop in visitor numbers. The Birmingham show attracted a pre-audit number of 83,364 attendees over five days."I feel the reason behind this slight drop in numbers was because the show moved from being in the same week as a school half term," event director Andy Gibb tells Exhibition News. "However, the positive stories about sales generated on the show floor keep pouring in and has meant people want to rebook with bigger stand spaces for next year."Gibb also tells EN that plans are being discussed to launch further shows, aligned to the Boat and Caravan Show, to cross-pollinate visitors interested in other outdoor activities and who might be thinking of purchasing a caravan or boat. The show will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2011.
