The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) has appointed AEG Facilities to help drive national and international business at the forthcoming Scottish National Arena (SNA).Under the new partnership, AEG Facilities will provide a range of event programming, naming rights, sponsorship and other revenue generating resources. The SNA is scheduled to open in 2013 by the River Clyde in Glasgow and will be able to hold 12,500 people. The new venue is expected to relieve pressure on the SECC’s Hall Four, currently the biggest exhibition space available in the city. SECC claims the Arena will allow it to deliver specialised exhibition, conference and concert facilities on one site and attract more international business. "The SNA will position both Glasgow and Scotland at the forefront of the global event and entertainment industry," said SECC CEO, John Sharkey. "We’re committed to working with the very best businesses to achieve this ambition and AEG Facilities has a track record in turning excellent facilities into internationally recognised entertainment brands."AEG Facilities COO, Bob Newman, said the deal tied into its strategy of partnering with leading venues in major capital markets.Going forward, the SECC said there will be other partners that will be brought on-board to support the arena.
