The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre’s chairman has been awarded a knighthood in the 2010 New Year’s Honours List. Ian Grant was awarded the accolade on the eve of the venue’s 25th anniversary. SECC’s group chief executive John Sharkey says: “The well deserved accolade is a testament to Ian’s passion and the dedication he brings to his work, whether it is in his role as chairman of The Crown Estate, his historic involvement as the chairman of the Scottish Tourist Board or his services to the Scottish business community. Ian has truly made a positive and beneficial impact on our Scottish community and we are extremely proud of him. “With 2010 set to be a year of celebrations for the SECC, Ian’s recognition is a tremendous way to start the new era.”
