The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) has appointed Virgin Galactic president Will Whitehorn to its board as non-executive director.Whitehorn, who became president of Virgin Galactic in 2004, is also a special advisor to Sir Richard Branson and a member of the First Minister of Scotland’s GlobalScot business mentoring network. He also sits on the UK Government’s Science and Technology Facilities Council. “The SECC is entering an exciting stage in its business life,” said Whitehorn. “Its investment and growth plans, including the Scottish National Arena, have positioned it strategically to capitalise on a significant period for both Glasgow and Scotland’s event market.”The SECC recently announced a £1m refurbishment programme.
