Statoil hands exhibition reigns to Enigma

WORLD - Norwegian-based energy company Statoil has appointed UK-based event management company Enigma Creative Solutions to deliver a series of exhibition stands at tradeshows worldwide, as part of its global rebranding. Enigma has been commissioned to construct stands for between 25 to 40 trade shows in countries such as Algeria, Russia and Iran a year, as part of the three-year contract. Enigma has enlisted local contractors to build replica stands for the company for each exhibition, in each country. The Scandinavian Design Group (SDG), part of the McCann World group, led the rebranding process and says it was impressed with Enigma’s interpretation of the new Statoil brand into a trade show atmosphere, “particularly in their approach to bringing it alive in a wide range of 3D environments,” says senior account manager at SDG, Tone Tuxen.“The financial value of brands is increasingly recognised, and it’s vital that visitors at major trade shows around the world get a really strong first impression of the new brand,” says the adviser to Statoil on the branding project, Cato Meling.The first commissioned stand was built for the World Heavy Oil Congress in Venezuela on 3-5 November 2009. Due to be held in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela it was moved to Margarita Island within days of build up. Record drought conditions on the Venezuela mainland in the weeks prior to the congress meant hydro-electric dams did not have enough water to generate consistent electricity on the main land of Venezuela, so exhibitors and delegates were moved to the nearby island. Formerly StatoilHydro, Statoil is the world’s 53rd largest company, according to the Forbes List, and in addition to its Norwegian business has interests in oil and gas fields in Algeria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Canada, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Russia, the USA and Venezuela.
