Visa delays cause Iranian no show

Iran’s official stand at Reed Travel Exhibition’s World Travel Market lies almost bare.   Due to delays in visa issuing, Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organisation’s exhibiting staff at were unable to fly to London in enough time for the Excel-based travel exhibition. Therefore Iran’s official representative at the show had to cancel its pavilion.   The Tehran-based British Embassy has been accused of not processing the visas quickly enough for the ICHTO to send its staff and according to the Embassy, staff shortages were the reason behind the issuance failure.   Some Iran nationals have been able to attend the show, held from 9 to 12 November, after applying for visas as individuals or travel agents in advance.   Last year’s World Travel Market saw an attendance of around 50,000 with over 200 countries represented.
